Although KENVO is predominantly a youth group, its membership remains open, embracing anyone who wishes to do something (even on a voluntary basis) to counter forest loss and degradation in and around the Kikuyu Escarpment forests.
KENVO retains the primary role of ensuring that the local environment and natural resources are conserved by actively involving the local community. KENVO appreciates that without community empowerment, long-term environmental conservation will remain elusive. KENVO strongly believes that solutions to environmental and biodiversity problems lie with the community living next to the forest. Thus, KENVO will continue to raise community awareness by working at the conservation and development interface to link conservation with peoples’ livelihoods.
